Indications/Uses
Treatment & prevention of vit E deficiency.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Special Precautions
Large doses in vit K deficient patients eg, those taking oral anticoagulants. Risk of thrombosis in patients taking estrogens. Do not use in pregnancy (especially 1st trimester). Not recommended during lactation. Premature infants weighing <1.5 kg.
Adverse Reactions
In large doses, diarrhea, abdominal pain & other GI disturbances; blurred vision, dizziness, fatigue & weakness.
Drug Interactions
Increased risk of thrombosis w/ estrogens. May interfere absorption w/ colestyramine, colestipol & orlistat. Increased effects of oral anticoagulants (high dose).
